DermaSilk® – A Unique Range of Therapeutic Clothing
DermaSilk® is a patented, innovative line of therapeutic clothing, designed
for individuals suffering from skin and mucous membrane problems. Its garments immediately proved effective for many skin conditions. These results were obtained in both “in vitro” and “in vivo” clinical studies, and many of these research projects were presented at major European congresses in the field and published in the most authoritative journals.
DermaSilk therapeutic clothing is a breakthrough in the treatment of atopic dermatitis and other skin problems.
DermaSilk Changes Lives
The DermaSilk fabric, used in the production of therapeutic clothing, allows the skin to breathe and regulates temperature and moisture – reducing itching and providing the daily comfort your skin needs.
DermaSilk therapeutic clothing is designed for continuous wear to help care for sensitive skin problems. DermaSilk does not replace conventional treatments but can be used in conjunction with them.
Not Just for Eczema
DermaSilk’s protective properties have been proven for various sensitive skin problems, including eczema, lichen sclerosus, recurrent candidiasis, and skin inflammations resulting from chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
DermaSilk has been included in the European guidelines for atopic dermatitis, the 2017 guidelines for bullous epidermolysis, the 2016 European guide for the treatment of vaginal diseases, and the European Dermatology Forum’s 2014 guide for lichen sclerosus – thus, the efficacy of DermaSilk products is also confirmed by several physicians.
DermaSilk therapeutic clothing is used in the treatment of sensitive skin problems occurring on various body parts and in people of different age groups. The garments are made from a special knitted medical silk, to which Microbe Shield technology has been added. This is much better than cotton because it maintains a stable moisture balance and does not irritate the skin. DermaSilk helps reduce the terrible “itch-scratch cycle” and its special knitted composition allows air to move through the fabric and lets the skin breathe more easily, thus promoting faster healing.
DermaSilk is not like other silk garments sold in stores that do not allow air to move freely, and controlled clinical trials have proven that other garments made from standard shiny silk do not function in the same way as DermaSilk. Other manufacturers make many claims, but only for DermaSilk are the claims clinically proven. This is also confirmed by Koller and his colleagues in a clinical study, which states that “ordinary” silk fabrics used for clothing are not recommended for patients with atopic dermatitis, as these fabrics reduce evaporation and can therefore exacerbate the condition. Antimicrobial Protection – With Good Reason
Silk is a protein fiber and can therefore promote the proliferation of bacteria and fungi upon contact. This harmful phenomenon is a particular problem for skin with eczema and for individuals with gynecological conditions, as an increased bacterial load can cause irritation. Therefore, it is exceptionally important to protect silk from microbes when the fabric is worn. Equally important is the choice of antimicrobial agent, to ensure that it is capable of destroying excess bacteria and does not wash out of the fabric over time – ensuring the durability of the garments. Safety is also important. An antimicrobial agent that is permanently integrated into the fabric does not release harmful substances to the skin or the environment during washing.
The colorless and odorless antimicrobial agent selected for DermaSilk meets all the above-mentioned criteria and more. AEM 5772/5 physically destroys bacteria, unlike chemical toxins such as triclosan and silver. It has been used in hospitals for over 30 years, where it has proven its ability to prevent the proliferation of bacteria and fungi, for example, on surgical gowns. It works by penetrating bacteria and fungi and sending electrical impulses to them, thereby causing their immediate elimination. No chemicals that could poison cells are released from the silk, nor do nanoparticles come into contact with the skin. No other antimicrobial agent is capable of protecting silk in this manner.
AEM 5772/5 has undergone stringent toxicity tests to ensure its safety for both healthy and damaged skin. Passing these tests was crucial for registration. DermaSilk does not contain any silver molecules or nanoparticles.
DermaSilk – Treats a Range of Skin Problems, Not Just Isolated Ones
It is used as a preventative base layer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is ideal for replacing conventional underwear or nightwear.
DermaSilk – Built-in Natural Moisturizers
DermaSilk has natural moisturizing properties; there is no need to add softeners to silk – it is already smooth. Therefore, only a small amount of emollient cream needs to be applied to the skin before wearing DermaSilk, making its use very convenient, and these garments can be washed and worn repeatedly.
DermaSilk – Does Not Contain Potentially Sensitizing Dyes
Although fashion may dictate the use of designer dyes, it is reassuring to know that most DermaSilk garments are natural silk-colored. No dyes that could cause allergic reactions have been used in production, and the permanently integrated antimicrobial finish protects the silk fibers from contamination without causing skin sensitivity.
DermaSilk – Soft Seam Technology
DermaSilk designers have thought of everything. The soft seams of the garments have minimal stitching, and on smaller garments, the seams are on the outside.
To get the most benefit from DermaSilk therapeutic clothing, follow these tips:
DermaSilk therapeutic garments are lightweight and conform to the body’s shape. For full effectiveness, they must fit snugly against the body and be in constant contact with the skin.
As with all natural fibers, DermaSilk will last longer if you alternate between several items and do not wash and wear one continuously.
When used with medical creams and ointments, care should be taken to ensure that the medication is fully absorbed before putting on the DermaSilk garment. If the moisturizing cream is too thick, it creates a barrier between the garment and the skin, and you will not get the best results. The garments themselves have a therapeutic effect, and it is beneficial even when the fabric is in contact with the skin.
Please note that the antimicrobial agent is permanently integrated into the silk and does not leach out of the fabric even after multiple washes.
